"I find the actual camcorder to be excellent. Very easy to use, and intuitive, and great features. The image stabilizer is a nice feature, as you aren't limited to using a tripod all the time to get a steady video. HOWEVER, the problem comes when you want to pull the video content off the camera. The software that comes with the camcorder is extremely primitive, and not user-friendly at all! Using another video editing software is a must. I'm coming to realize though that difficulties with video editing is a very common problem though. One issue is that the camcorder records video in .MPEG2 format. This format can not readily be imported into Windows Movie Maker. It must be converted into .AVI format.
So once I figure out how to video edit and burn DVDs with this camcorder, I'm sure I will enjoy it more. But for now, its frustrating. But again, the actual camcorder is great! Just the video editing and given software is a pain."

Not Happy
Date: July 23, 2009
Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, software is usless!
"Ok...I bought this cam because it was a reasonable price and had a BIG 60GB hard drive. That is all fine and good but the video quality of this cam is reallly terrible. And the software it comes with is the worst I have ever seen.
I have a panasonic Digital camera (DMC-FZ50) and it takes 10 times better video than this cam corder..do not buy this unit!"

Software Editing
Date: February 5, 2009
Pros: Compact, Easy to use Cons: need for an editing software.
"Nice camcorder, great zoom and overall quality. For the price you shouldn't have to buy software to edit you video. Also, the software supplied transfers photos well, but not videos. Very poor software!"

Easy To Use, but...
Date: December 31, 2008
Pros: Compact Cons: Poor quality, Expensive, Did not meet expectations, poor editing software, indoor resolution poor, not user friendly
"Resolution is terrible for indoor pictures, and the software is very difficult to navigate and use. I would recommend a different brand based solely of the software provided by this camera. The camera is only as good as the software to edit and create your DVD's. Ease of use if fair, until you get to the editing and creating DVD's, then it is all downhill from there."

Fantastic zoom! -- so-so software
Date: December 25, 2008
Pros: Inexpensive, Easy to use, zoom and ois Cons: no video editing software
"I love the zoom and OIS (optical image stabilazation) features. By using both I can capture clear non-nauseating video at my son's football games -- even when restricted to the bleachers. I love the camera; however the software is not much more than a convenient file transfer package. You will need to purchase video editing software to use with the camera."

Love it!
Date: October 27, 2008
Pros: Compact, Exceeded expectations, Convenient, Easy to use
"I have hundreds (around 700) of photos on my camera and many many video clips from two sons football games... The storage is huge and when I look at avilable time left for taping...there are so may hours left (around 25 hours)-battery lasts, too! When its cold life span on battery charge cuts down, like all other.. Video and stills are quality... Transferring photos to the computer is easy. Havent transferred video yet, but from what I have seen from this camera so far...It has been user friendly! Great choice in compact and quality! Thumbs up to Panasonic!"
