Panasonic LX3 Bugs?! Date: August 6, 2009
Pros: Compact, Durable, Exceeded expectations, Convenient
Cons: Difficult to use

"i took a lot of (flash-)pictures with my lx3 during the last month.
two things looking like bugs (or stupid feature):

1. the camera changes the manual whitebalance everytime to flash when i use flash (intern or extern).
check the work around at dslr, manual presets are presets everytime.

2. there ist no live-histogram in manual exposure for the ambient light when i use flash (intern or extern).
live-histogram would help a lot to balance flash and ambient light.

pansonic should fix this in the next camera."

Very nice small gem Date: February 16, 2009
Pros: Exceeded expectations
Cons: noisy pictures above iso 200

"I got this camera for a single reason: I wanted a small camera with a wide angle lens, manual control and raw picture mode. The image quality is very pleasant and the raw software included does well the job. Not perfect, but works. Camera's controls layout is good. The only thing I'm not 100% pleased is the high noise above ISO 200. Panasonic should improve this matter."

Professional quality at low iso Date: January 13, 2009
Pros: Compact, Durable, Exceeded expectations, dynamic range, low contrast detail but only in raw
Cons: video sound quality low, lens cap, hd 30p missing (nice for action video)

"At first I was a bit disappointed by the raw results. The sometimes plastic look and smearing of low contrast detail of the in camera processed jpg's was my main complaint (also at ISO 80 and turning in camera noise reduction down). The raw processing in silkypix was not giving the right improvements (perherps my skills with silkypix were limited?). All this changed when raw support became available from Adobe. The pictures turned into professional quality when I processed raw files in Adobe Lightroom. The raw quality from the LX3 (at ISO 80) now seems comparible with a semi pro SLR camera equiped with a high quality lens and shooting raw at 400 ISO. I think this is an impressive achievement for such a small camera equiped with a fast and wide lens (80% of my shots are at 24 mm).
Watch out with the lens cap, it can swing against the lens while taking pictures in windy conditions (while hanging loose on the supplied strap). I will try a Ricoh auto lens cap that seems to fit to the LX3 also (with small modifications, see internet)."
