Pros: Compact
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, Difficult to use
"First off we check out cameras to the students of our school so they need to be as simple to use for the beginners but have more advanced features for the more ambitious students. There were a lot of things that were wrong with this camera first of which was the controls they were covered by the LCD which was irritating. The SD cousin of this model had the controls built into a thumb toggle around the record button that was very intuitive and easy to access. The manual controls were just difficult to manage. To compensate for the inconvenience of having the lcd open if you wanted to save battery life while using the manual controls there was a switch that turned the lcd and the viewfinder on and off. I could find this being a point of confusion for the less experienced users. One feature i did like was the zoom/focus ring at the front of the camera. That was a welcome addition. Most of these things could have been forgiven. But the quality was horrible the image was blocky it just did not look like something that you would expect from a 3 sensor HD camera. We have purchased exclusively for the past two years and were looking forward to continuing that into the future but the quality really did look like bad vhs footage. I don't know if it is the short comings of the AVCHD format or if it was the camera in general. If you care about quality at all this is not the hd camera for you."
