Pros: Exceeded expectations
Cons: no usb port

"Best player, hands down. Only to be out done by the DMP-BD80. But that's because of the web enabled features and the USB port. Only wish the 55k had the USB port. Not really into the web streaming.

This was a great addition to compliment my home theater.

I debated between this model and the PS3 as my blu-ray choices. I wanted to get the full use of the HD audio codecs so the Panasonic won out due to it having the analog outs I needed to match with my receiver.

It was a Christmas present, and I am very fortunate as they quickly sold out all over.

Panasonic has consistently produced some of the best disc players since the beginnings of DVD. They continue with Blu-Ray!"

Cons: manual is vague

"When I first started looking to purchase my first Blu-Ray player I snubbed my nose at Panasonic. I continued to do research and kept circling back to Panasonic and I am glad I did! I purchased this player and a TH-42PZ85U and performance of these two products far exceeds my expectations. It is a pure shame this Blu-Player and TV have been discontinued but I am sure Panasonic is going to replace it with an even better product. If you can find this player still out there scoop it up quickly before it leaves the shelf."

Nearly perfect in every way Date: February 23, 2009
Pros: Inexpensive, Compact, Exceeded expectations, Convenient, Easy to use, incredible analog audio
Cons: discontinued

"I bought myself an early Christmas present in 2008 and this is my first Blu-ray player ever. I did a lot of research and read ton's of reviews on all brands of BD players and every time it had me coming back to this BD55 player from Panasonic.

I have enjoyed owning this Blu-ray player for 4 month's now. The lossless audio quality is amazing. The picture was to be expect for a Blu-ray player.. stunning.

*Only huge down side is that Panasonic no longer makes this wonderful player. If they did.. I would not hesitate to purchase another one."

"Picture quality is unbelievable and I would have never thought that the sound could be that much better than DVD or CD, dynamics are much much higher than I have heard I am running the audio through 4 stewart amp's creating 5.1 surround at 800 watts per channel and sub bridged at 2400 watts and center set up like sub but turned way down. Unbelievable you are listening to conversations at normal volumes then the race scene starts and the sheet rock starts to crumble the amazing thing is that it is the first cd, dvd and now blu-ray player that does not skip in this situation before I have had to put the player in a separate room. Great product for the price."
