Problem formatting DVD-RAM disks Date: January 1, 2009
Pros: Compact, Convenient

"I use the Panasonic DMR-E80H video recorder to record video programs.
With this I use the Panasonic DVD-RAM disks for editing.
These disks are sold in a 5-Pack and are UNFORMATTED!
In the "formatting process" I try to get the formatting
option, and find that the DISK PROTECTION is ON !!
With this ON, I am unable to format the disk.
Namely, a Catch-22 situation.
This occurs in about 1 disk out of 8 or 10.
Without a work-around procedure, I've just wasted my money on that disk. The DMR manual DOES NOT provide any assistance !"
